Provide basic bedside care & emotional support to our residents in 4-hour shifts available Monday-Sunday year round.

Resident Care volunteers are the backbone of the Joan Nicole Prince Home. RC Volunteers provide hands-on bedside care to our residents Monday-Sunday 7am-11pm. Our RC Shifts run in 4 hour shifts, with exceptions for special occasions and need. This volunteer position is a “responsible volunteer position”, we expect our volunteers to be on-time and respectful of our Home and it’s residents.

ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE TRAINED BY STAFF & VETERAN VOLUNTEERS… after an application is received, volunteers must complete a 1-2 hour orientation with staff, followed by at least 3 ‘shadow shifts’ with veteran volunteers.

Resident Care Volunteers perform the following duties:

• Personal Care of Male and Female Residents

• Assist residents with walking

• Assist with toileting/hygiene as indicated/appropriate

• Monitor for resident safety

• Hair/Personal Care - comb/brush, dressing, nail care

• Mouth Care - brush teeth; clean dentures; use mouth swabs

• Skin Care - apply lotion/give back rub

• Oxygen - apply cannula, adjust flow rate

• Medications - administer medications as prescribed by Hospice-chart date/time using your initials

• Prepare/serve/cleanup light meals for residents

• Feed/assist resident with eating/feeding, if needed

• Light housekeeping chores- sweeping, cleaning, laundry

• Provide emotional support to resident and their family

As a non-profit comfort home, our Home requires a lot of work to maintain it’s comfortable, relaxing, and welcoming environment.

Our Home is a true 501(c)(3) not-for-profit and that requires a lot of help and commitment from not only our staff, but our community.
